During the past weeks I have been reading an introductory book about Nike+iPod.
I first heard about it during my advertising class in San Francisco, when someone presented the new Nike shoe with the sensor that can be connected to the latest iPod nano.
The two brand icons have declared their cooperation in 2006 and the result, so far, is not “too bad”. Apple provides the music, podcasts, audio books and, of course, the sensor; Nike the running shoes and the whole running outfit to be fully prepared for all weather conditions. The cooperation couldn't be more perfect.
It's all about the image! Apple and its revitalisation with the iPod created a brand image that lets forget all other portable media players, that are technologically better...but, another plus for Apple; they simply know how to design!
Nike contributes names of famous athletes using Nike+iPod and created a platform for runners, where results can be stored automatically, running routes can published for other passionate joggers (Nike is working together with Google here), and many things more that make runners' hearts beat faster...
After reading the book, I was already thinking about the colour of the iPod that I would like to have. The sensor is not too expensive either...But then again, I had to remind myself, that it's just making me crave and wanting to buy something that I don't really need (and want).
But it would be nice to have...

It's all about the ending...
What I actually liked in your article was...the conclusion
Plus you have to remember that my strategic management project was on Adidas - in competition with Apple/Ipod, so this just reminds me bad memories from the course...just kidding, the Adidas team got an A on that project (equal to the Apple team I have to admit)...one fierce and fun competitive course it was there.
