wishes - different cultural point

At this time of the year, The British ( and Irish, and Scots, ...!) are busy sending their Christmas and New Year's wishes. We did it, too, of course .... but to our British friends and family!

Don't make a boob: don't wish " Bonne Année" to the French ...yet!!! You have to wait till January, and then, you'll have the whole month to do it. That's why you're not getting theirs.

If you do it 'in advance" it brings bad luck for the many superstituous; So, instead of making them happy, they will be very upset and worried ... and avoid you from now on (lol!)

It's like "chrysanthèmes": it's only for the dead, at the cemetery, that's why you usually find them at the end of October. I have a friend who made this boob: I had to write a letter of apology and explanation for her !!!

The story about chrysanthemes, I know from here in Germany as well. My mother knows things like this. The french feelings concerning wishes like "bonne année" made at the wrong time, I ignored. We have this in Germany with birthday wishes, it brings bad luck to congratulate before the birthday.
Bad luck brings also the famous black cat, crossing the road before you from the left to the right (or inverse, I don't remember exactly).

Any way here my wishes for a peacefull advent and christmastime to all bloggers:) and I hope that's correct:)
